Court-appointed mentor charged with sex offense against DC teen

WASHINGTON — D.C. police have charged a Maryland man with a sex offense involving a teen girl he had been appointed to mentor.

Police arrested Andrew Brooks, 28, on Sept. 20 and charged him with transportation with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.

Police said Brooks picked up the girl from her home in Southeast D.C. on several occasions throughout July and August and drover her to his home in Indian Head, Maryland, to engage in sexual activity.

Brooks was the girl’s court-appointed mentor.
