WASHINGTON (AP) — District of Columbia police have identified a man found stabbed to death in an upscale hotel and released images of a person of interest in the case.
The Metropolitan Police Department identified the man killed as 30-year-old David Messerschmitt. Messerschmitt’s body was found around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday inside a room at the Donovan, a boutique hotel in northwest Washington. Messerschmitt had been stabbed multiple times.
Messerschmitt was an attorney at a firm specializing in intellectual property law and lived on Capitol Hill with his wife. His family had reported him missing early Tuesday.
Police released surveillance video of a person of interest in the killing Wednesday. The person is shown wearing a hooded sweatshirt and trying to cover his or her face.
