WASHINGTON — A bus drove into a storefront in Arlington, Virginia, Wednesday evening, sending three people to the hospital.

A driver of a Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission OmniRide bus hit a vehicle before going over the curb, said PRTC spokesperson Christine Rodrigo in a written statement. The bus crashed into a business on the first floor of the Lenox Club apartment building on 12th Street South around 6 p.m.

The bus driver was the only person on board at the time of the crash.

Emergency crews transported the driver and two other people to an area hospital with minor injuries, Arlington Fire Department said. Rodrigo said one person was a pedestrian while the other person was in the business that was hit by the bus.

The bus has been towed from the scene and impounded by Arlington County police.

The crash and investigation closed part of 12th Street South. Fire department crews are evaluating the building for structural damage and police are investigating the cause of the crash.
