Police seek Anne Arundel Co. rape, sex assault suspect

WASHINGTON — Police are searching for an Annapolis man who they say raped and sexually assaulted two girls over a three-month period this year.

Police say 56-year-old Daniel Tobar Rivera raped a 12-year-old girl and sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl between Aug. 15 and Oct. 17 at a business in the 1300 block of Forest Drive.

On Oct. 18, police officers were investigating a runaway 10-year-old girl and learned she visited the Forest Drive business before fleeing. When detectives reviewed video surveillance of the visit, they saw Rivera — an Annapolis resident — appear to sexually assault the girl.

Upon investigating, detectives found that Rivera raped a 12-year-old girl on two occasions at the business as well.

An arrest warrant for Rivera was issued on Oct. 20 for two counts of second degree rape as well as several sex offense and sex assault counts.

Rivera is a native of El Salvador and detectives says they believe he may have traveled to Virginia with the intent of leaving the country.

Anyone with information about the cases or Rivera’s whereabouts is asked to contact detectives at 410-260-3439.
