Metro: some riders to wait longer this weekend

WASHINGTON (AP) — Metro says riders on several Metro lines will wait longer than normal for trains this weekend and the system will open earlier on Sunday for the Navy-Air Force Half Marathon.

Metro says starting Friday at 10 p.m. and continuing through system closing on Sunday, orange and blue line trains will operate every 24 minutes. Green line trains will operate every 20 minutes. And red line trains will operate every 15 minutes with additional trains between Grosvenor and NoMa-Gallaudet from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The Metro system will also open one hour early on Sunday, at 6 a.m., to help passengers who are traveling to the marathon.
