Blue Line train strikes deer

Monday - 11/18/2013, 9:58am  ET

WASHINGTON - A Metro train struck at deer at the Addison Road station during the Monday morning rush hour, causing delays on the Blue Line.

The train was disabled by the accident and trains started single-tracking between Morgan Boulevard and Addison Road after 6 a.m.

Normal service resumed before shortly 9 a.m., with residual delays.

The accident involving the deer occurred after a separate problem led to delays on the Red Line, just before 6 a.m. Metro said a signal problem caied the delays outside the Takoma station.

A series of delays on the Red Line last week led Metro General Manager Richard Sarles to issue a public apology to riders. Metro has issued partial credits to hundreds of riders who filed complaints with the transit agency, relating to the delays.
