The project that would feature the tallest building in Montgomery County is back on in North Bethesda/White Flint.
Developer JBG will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, June 10 to discuss changes to an already approved plan that would put a 300-foot tall, 24-story residential building at its North Bethesda Market site on Nicholson Lane.
North Bethesda Market II, or NoBe II, will include the 339-unit building on the site of three existing low-density office and retail buildings between Woodglen Drive and Rockville Pike. The building will overtake the 289-foot tall apartment building in JBG’s North Bethesda Market I for the title of tallest building in Montgomery County.
Its unique design is also architecturally significant, something the Planning Board liked about the project when it approved it on March 1, 2012.
But in the last two years, there was little movement on NoBe II. Now, JBG is coming back to the Planning Board with a proposal to reduce the commercial component and increase the number of living units, according to the Friends of White Flint.
The entire NoBe II project also includes three other mixed-use buildings that will rise up next to JBG’s successful first phase of the development, anchored by the North Bethesda Market apartments and a Whole Foods grocery store.
The public meeting is set for 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on June 10, in the Linden Oak Room of the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center.
