Weekly Crime Report: July 15 to July 23

Police are looking for info on an attempted robbery involving a group of six teenage suspects on July 19 near Westfield Montgomery Mall:

An attempted robbery occurred in the 7100 block of Democracy Boulevard in Potomac on Friday, 7/19 at approximately 7:30 p.m. The suspects assaulted the victims and unsuccessfully attempted to remove property.

Suspects: B/M, 16-17, 5’10”-5’11”/160 lbs., short brown hair; W/M, 16-17, 5’9”/150 lbs., medium brown hair; B/M, 17, 5’11”/170 lbs.; B/M, 17, 5’10”/150 lbs.; B/M, 16-17, 5’10”/170-180 lbs., dreadlocks; B/M, 16-17

Three thefts from vehicles incidents occurred overnight between Monday, 7/16 and Tuesday, 7/16. Entry was forced in each incident and GPS units, electronics, laptops, and cash were targeted. Incidents occurred on Spring Lake Drive, Rock Spring Drive and Rock Forrest Drive in North Bethesda. 

A residential burglary occurred in the 9600 block of Pinkney Court in Rockville on Tuesday, 7/23 at 2:20 a.m. No forced entry; nothing taken.

Four thefts from vehicles incidents occurred:

– 8500 block of Rayburn Road in Bethesda on Tuesday, 7/16 between 3:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., a GPS was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

– 9400 block of Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda on Sunday, 7/21 between 7:15 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., three vehicles parked in the lot at the YMCA were entered and cash, checks, cell phones were taken. One vehicle was left unsecured, and the other two were entered by force.

Six thefts from vehicles incidents were reported this week during the evening and overnight hours in the Somerset/Friendship Heights areas. Entry methods include unlocked doors and force; purses, cell phones, GPS units, laptops, and jewelry and vehicle parts were among the items taken. Streets affected include: The Hills Plaza, Highland Drive, Friendship Boulevard, Butler Road, Brookes Lane and Saratoga Ave in Bethesda.

Two burglaries occurred in the 10900 block of Rockville Pike in North Bethesda on Friday, 7/19 between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Unknown entry; property taken.

A robbery occurred in the 10100 block of Grosvenor Place in North Bethesda on Sunday, 7/21 at approximately 10:15 p.m. The suspect forcefully removed property from the victim.

Suspect: B/M, 40-45, 5’10”-6’/210-220 lbs.

A theft occurred in the 4800 block of Bethesda Avenue in Bethesda on Saturday, 7/20 at 3:00 p.m.

An aggravated assault occurred in the 4800 block of Leland Street in Bethesda on Monday, 7/15 at 5:00 a.m. The suspect is known to the victim.
