WASHINGTON — There will be a few more eyes on D.C. drivers with the
installation of new speed and traffic cameras.
Eleven new traffic cameras were put in place Monday throughout D.C.
There is a
30-day “educational phase” where violators will receive warning violations.
After the warning period, Metropolitan Police Department will begin issuing
citations.
The cameras were installed in areas where “speeding and pedestrian safety has
been identified to be a problem,” according to police.
The new enforcement locations are:
- Speed camera (40 mph). 3600 blk Dalecarlia Pkwy ne/b NW
- Speed camera (30 mph). 4600 blk Nebraska Ave NW sw/b
- Speed camera (30 mph). 5200 blk Wisconsin Ave NW n/b
- Speed camera (25 mph). 1800 blk Connecticut Ave NW s/b
- Speed camera (30 mph). 2500 blk Georgia Ave NW s/b
- Speed camera (40 mph). 2900 blk N Capitol St NW s/b
- Speed camera (30 mph). 3500 blk New Hampshire Ave NW sw/b
- Speed camera (25 mph). 3700 blk 13th St NW s/b
- Speed camera (25 mph). 4500 blk Clermont Dr NE s/b
- Stop sign. Longfellow St. w/b @ Missouri NW
- Speed camera (25 mph). 1100 blk Florida Ave NE se/b
Fines for speeding violations can range from $50 to $300, according to MPD’s website. Failure to stop at a
stop sign results in a $50 fine.
