Private coach charged with abusing student

WASHINGTON – A tutor and coach has been charged with multiple counts of sexually abusing a teen girl he worked with in Montgomery County and who had contact with many other students.

Daniel M. Sirotkin, 30 of Germantown, was arrested Tuesday on two charges of sex abuse of a minor and three counts of third degree sex offense.

Montgomery County police say Sirotkin had been coaching and tutoring both public and private high school students for several years, primarily in the Bethesda and Potomac areas. Parents hired Sirotkin privately to act as a tutor and an athletic coach.

Most of Sirotkin’s pupils were teen girls, police say.

Police spokesman Captain Jim Daly declined to say which sport Sirotkin coached.

Bethesda Now reports that Sirotkin wrestled for Quince Orchard and has previously coached local club and high school wrestling teams.

Investigators believe Sirotkin may have victimized other girls and are asking parents to talk to their child.

Parents should call the family crimes division at 240-773-5400 to report any inappropriate behavior or contact between their child and Sirotkin.
