D.C. Meat Week: Eight days of barbecue bliss

WASHINGTON – Do you like meat? Do you like meat so much you think it should be celebrated?

If you answered yes, then this event is for you.

Eight days of barbecue is officially underway thanks to D.C. Meat Week, which is honoring all things grilled, smoked and pulled.

“The idea is getting together with people who love barbecue and trying out a restaurant you might not have been to before or even know existed,” says David Gootzit, meat aficionado and organizer of D.C. Meat Week.

From Monday to Thursday, specialty restaurants like Epic Smokehouse and Pork Barrel BBQ are opening their doors for specials. Friday, check out the food truck face-off hosted by Living Social in downtown D.C. Saturday’s brunch at Kangaroo Boxing Club is already sold out, but there are still tickets for Sunday’s closing event at Mr. P’s in Northeast.
