The best and worst holiday drinks for your waistline

WASHINGTON - Before you guzzle down your favorite holiday drink from the area coffee shop, listen up.

It seems those lattes and double tall mochas are loaded with fat and calories.

But worry not. The Daily Meal has a list of the best and worst at your favorite caffeine watering hole.

Starbucks

Worst: Eggnog Latte - 470 calories, 22 grams of fat (grande size with whole milk)

Best: Gingerbread Latte - 150 calories, 0 grams of total fat (tall size, nonfat milk, no whip)

Dunkin' Donuts

Worst: Peppermint Mocha Latte - 360 calories, 9 grams of total fat (medium size)

Best: Gingerbread Latte - 310 calories, 9 grams of fat (medium size with whole milk) Note: The Daily Meal recommends the Gingerbread coffee instead.

McDonalds

Worst: McCafe Caramel Hot Chocolate - 350 calories (medium, whole milk); and McCafe Egg Nog Shake - 680 calories (medium size)

Best: McCafe Peppermint Mocha - 160 calories, 1/2 gram of fat (small, nonfat with no whip and no chocolate)

Caribou Coffee

Worst: The Salted Caramel Bundino - 850 calories, 56 grams of fat, 66 grams of sugar (medium size, whole milk, whip)

Best: Fa La Latte - About 240 calories and about 9 grams of fat (small with nonfat whipped cream)

Peet's Coffee and Tea

Worst: Eggnog Latte - 650 calories, 29 grams of fat, 75 grams of sugar (medium size)

Best: Cinnamon Gingerbread Latte - 167 calories, 0 grams of fat (small size, fat-free milk)

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

Worst: Peppermint Vanilla Ice Blended Drink - 480 calories, 10 grams of fat, 81 grams of sugar; or Gingerbread Cookie Ice Blended Drink - 480 calories, 9 grams of fat, 91 grams of sugar

Best: Winter Dream Latte - 280 calories, 7 grams of fat, 48 grams of sugar (16-ounce size)
