Virginia Commonwealth plans new provost search

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia Commonwealth University plans to conduct a new search for a provost.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1kNI0q5) reports that an initial search in the spring was unsuccessful. VCU President Michael Rao announced the appointment of a new search committee in a statement to the campus in late May.

VCU spokeswoman Anne Buckley told the newspaper that the university has no comment on why the initial search failed.

John Wienceck was named interim provost following the departure of Beverly Warren. Warren left VCU at the end of the last semester to become president of Kent State University.

School of Dentistry dean David Sarrett and Grace E. Harris Leadership Institute executive director Susan Gooden will co-chair the new search committee.
