October Charity of the Month

The WTOP Charity of the Month is
Susan G. Komen

For 40 years, Susan G. Komen has been working to save lives from breast cancer. This year alone, about 44,000 people in the U.S. will die from breast cancer. That’s why when others look away, Komen leans in. We’re fighting alongside patients because we know we’re stronger together. With your help, Komen is making an impact in the fight against breast cancer. Your donations are saving lives and making progress in the mission to end breast cancer forever.

Be Bold.
Be Fearless.
Be More Than Pink.

The Washington, DC metropolitan area has one of the highest rates for breast cancer incidence and mortality in the nation. Additionally, Black women in the area are 40 percent more likely to die of breast cancer than their white counterparts.

Susan G. Komen serves the communities within the District of Columbia; Montgomery County and Prince George’s County in Maryland; and Prince William County, Loudoun County, Arlington County, Fairfax County and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas, and Manassas Park in Virginia. Learn about breast cancer and understand your risk.
