D.C. announces revised trash-pickup schedule

WASHINGTON — The District of Columbia has announced that it’ll try to resume collecting trash on Thursday in the wake of last weekend’s snowstorm.

The Department of Public Works will attempt collection on Thursday, Jan. 28 and operate on an altered schedule Thursday through the weekend,” it says in a statement.

If your trash is picked up Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, service will resume next week — although “twice-a-week routes will be addressed this Thursday or Friday,” the statement says.

Service attempts will be made on Thursday and Friday. Service attempts may be made Saturday and Sunday on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday routes.

Everything will get back to normal on Monday, Feb. 1, the Department of Public Works says. It’ll hire private contractors to help out DPW crews.
