Redskins, Buccaneers game rescheduled due to severe weather in Florida

WASHINGTON — A preseason match between the Washington Redskins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has been rescheduled one day earlier in anticipation of severe weather in Florida.

The game, which was supposed to be Thursday, Sept. 1, has been moved to Wednesday, Aug. 31 at 8 p.m. in an effort to avoid expected severe weather from Tropical Depression Nine that will likely make landfall Thursday, said Buccaneers Chief Operating Officer Brian Ford in a release.

“This decision was made by both teams in conjunction with the National Football League and local authorities in an effort to ensure the safety of our fans, players and stadium staff,” Ford said.

“We support the decision made by the Buccaneers and the NFL,” Redskins President Bruce Allen said. “We look forward to our game on Wednesday.”
