WASHINGTON — The Nationals beat the Cincinnati Reds, 13-4, on Thursday night, so it’s not like they needed any extra help, but a fan at Nationals Park evidently tried to give them some anyway.
The fan jumped onto the field in the ninth inning and made it all the way to center field – farther than most such intruders do. And then – he waited.
He was eventually tackled by security and hustled off, but not before giving a thumbs-up to the Nats’ Clint Robinson.
What a Cardinals fan (judging by his shirt) was doing crashing the Nats-Reds game isn’t clear, but would-be imitators take note: Even if you succeed in jumping onto the field, then what?
It’s a deep question, one this fan couldn’t solve.
