July 3 — Herbert Hoover Bobblehead giveaway presented by the White House Historical Association: First 25,000 fans to enter the ballpark will get this bobblehead. WASHINGTON — The 10-game Washington Nationals homestand lasts through July 6 and the team has lots of events and giveaways planned.

“Tuesday [July 5] is one of our most fun giveaways of the year. It is our second Chia Pet. Last year, we gave away Jayson Werth. This year, the Chia Pet is Bryce Harper,” said Nationals Chief Marketing Officer Valerie Camillo.

“So you can style his hair, which is all any of us have ever really wanted to do,” Camillo added, tongue firmly in cheek.

Upcoming off-the-field excitement includes everything from presidential bobble heads to college rivalries and baserunning opportunities for the kids.

Some of the upcoming game promotions include:

“It’s an homage to all things from the 60s. We’re going to have music and movie clips and a lot of surprise guests [impersonators] around the park,” Camillo said. “Bryce Harper is a big Sinatra fan.”

“This is what I’ve learned from growing my Jayson Werth Chia — you just have to let it grow,” Camillo explained. “Once you trim it, it doesn’t look so good. So, you just have to let it go in its full glory of growth.”
