WASHINGTON – At Nationals Park, big homeruns will live forever.
New for this season, the ballpark will mark notable blasts, including those that have situational significance and monumental distance.
For now, six homeruns have been immortalized.
If the landing spot was in a seat, that seat is painted red to stand out against the sea of blue.
All are marked with a plaque.
Two homeruns have been distinguished for their historic significance.
The first is Ryan Zimmerman’s walkoff homerun the night the ballpark opened in 2008.
The other is Jayson Werth’s walkoff winner in Game 4 of the 2013 National League Division Series.
Four other homeruns have been marked for their did-you-see-that distance.
Two of those belong to Bryce Harper.
Adam LaRoche and Michael Morse hit the other shots.
The homeruns have been marked in time for Saturday’s exhibition with the Yankees.
