In 1998, the Caps played in D.C. and lost. Twenty years later, they're back and this time, they won on their own turf. Here are pictures from Game 3, the first Stanley Cup Final game in D.C. in 20 years and the first time the Caps have taken a lead in the series.
WASHINGTON — In 1998, the Washington Capitals played two home games in the Stanley Cup Final and lost both of them. In fact, they didn’t win a single game against the Detroit Red Wings.
Twenty years later, they’re back and this time, they won on their own ice.
Here are pictures from Game 3, the first Stanley Cup Final game in D.C. in 20 years and the first time the Caps have taken a lead in the series.
