WASHINGTON — Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe toasted his final appearance on WTOP’s “Ask the Governor” program Friday with a locally-brewed stout.

McAuliffe brought the Give Me Stout or Give Me Death with him to the Glass Enclosed Nerve Center. He helped select the ingredients for the brew, a collaboration with three Richmond breweries: Stone Brewing, Hardywood Park Craft Brewery and Ardent Craft Ales.

“My name is on the bottle. They wanted to put my picture on it but my lawyers wouldn’t let them do it,” McAuliffe said.

In 2014, McAuliffe announced at the Executive Mansion that Stone Brewing would build its East Coast facility in Richmond.

Brewing is big business in the state, which celebrated its 200th licensed craft brewer in July.
