RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Authorities say a suspicious substance found in a letter sent to the Attorney General’s Office is not hazardous.
Capitol Police spokesman Ray Goodloe tells the Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/2bfKLlb) an employee in the office opened an envelope about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and found a black-brown substance inside.
Virginia State Police sent a hazmat team to the office to take the substance to a lab for analysis. Goodloe said the substance has been found to be no hazardous, although further tests will be necessary to determine exactly what it is.
It’s not known to whom the letter was addressed.
