2 Va. construction crew workers hit by dump truck, killed

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) — Officials say two workers from a construction crew have been killed after they were hit by a dump truck in Augusta County.

Virginia State Police said in a statement that 38-year-old Felimon Aizpuro II of Staunton and 50-year-old Debbie Huffman of Port Republic were killed when a dump truck backing up to drop a load of asphalt struck them both Tuesday afternoon in Greenville.

State police spokesman Sgt. KL Hyden says the truck driver was unware that the two people were either behind or beside his truck when he was backing up.

The driver of the truck has not been charged.

All of those involved in the incident were part of a paving crew with B & S Contracting, Inc.

The crash remains under investigation.
