WASHINGTON — An man who was nicknamed the ‘Ball Cap Bandit’ has been arrested and charged in connection with a string of robberies in northern Virginia over the past several weeks.
Alexandria police arrested Budder Khan, 26, of Arlington, on Thursday. He is charged with two bank robberies in Alexandria: one on April 18 at a Suntrust on Mount Vernon Avenue; another, on April 28 at a Wells Fargo on Fern Street.
Khan is also tied to a bank robbery at a Wells Fargo in Falls Church that happened on Wednesday.
“He implied he had a weapon and requested money from a teller,” said Susan Finarelli, a spokeswoman with the City of Falls Church Police Department. “They gave him the cash and he did not hurt anyone.”
The FBI has been investigating the robberies and gave Khan the nickname ‘Ball Cap Bandit’ because he was caught on surveillance footage wearing a different cap at each crime scene — for the Oakland Raiders, Brooklyn Nets and Colorado Rockies.
