Va. college fraternity suspended after hanging suggestive signs

WASHINGTON — An Old Dominion University fraternity has been suspended after hanging sexually suggestive banners on the first day of school.

The words written on bed sheets, draped on the second-floor railing of a private off-campus house, read, “Rowdy and Fun Hope Your Baby Girl Is Ready For a  Good Time,” “Freshman Daughter Drop Off” and “Go Ahead and Drop Off Mom Too.”

The students’ attempt at humor fell flat at a time that college campuses are trying to rein in behavior that could lead to sexual assaults.

“There is zero tolerance on this campus for sexual assault and sexual harassment,” Old Dominion University President John Broderick said in a letter to the university community.

The banners quickly came down from the house in Norfolk, Virginia, but the Sigma Nu fraternity says some of its members may have been involved, and the fraternity has been suspended as the school investigates the incident.
