WASHINGTON — A second teen has been arrested in connection with a brawl outside a Fredericksburg drive-thru restaurant that left two men dead and put a third in the hospital.
Fredericksburg police say the 17-year-old Spotsylvania County boy has been charged with two counts of assault by mob — a misdemeanor charge defined as any number of people working together to assault or batter an individual.
The boy was being held at the Rappahannock Juvenile Detention Center, police say.
The teen’s younger brother was charged earlier this week with the two men’s murders. Both boys were arraigned as juveniles Wednesday. It is unclear whether they will be tried as adults.
A third man was also stabbed but survived. The unnamed man, 29, of Stafford County, was released from the hospital Wednesday morning.
The survivor, along with Anthony J. Carter, 28, of Albany, Georgia, and Mac O. Hughes, 30, of Portsmouth, went with a group of other adults to the Cook Out at the Greenbrier Shopping Center early Sunday morning. The teen brothers were at the drive-thru with other teens and had been at a graduation party earlier.
An argument broke out between to the two groups and turned into a fight involving as many as 16 people, police say.
