SWEET BRIAR, Va. (AP) — Hollins University officials are expecting an influx of students from Sweet Briar College.
Hollins says it received applications from 236 Sweet Briar students by April 1. More applications are expected.
Vice president for enrollment Stefanie Niles tells The Roanoke Times (http://bit.ly/1HHMVQ0 ) that Hollis officials don’t expect all of the students who applied to transfer to Hollins. But she says plans are being discussed to handle additional students.
Hollins is a private women’s university in Roanoke with about 750 students.
Sweet Briar’s board announced on March 3 that the private women’s college would close at the end of this academic year. The school has about 530 students.
