Human remains found during search for missing Va. 18-year-old

WASHINGTON — Police found human remains Thursday while searching for an 18-year-old Virginia college student who has been missing for more than a month.

The remains were located in the 3400 block of Smiths Ferry Road in Southampton County, Virginia, while police were searching for Anjelica “AJ” Hadsell, who has been missing since March 2, reports WTKR-TV in Hampton Roads, Virginia.

It is not yet clear if the remains found are connected to Hadsell’s case.

The remains are being transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for additional analysis and identification.

Hadsell disappeared from her Norfolk home while she was home for spring break from Longwood University.

Earlier this week, Hadsell’s grandmother, Katherine Hadsell, said police are “doing nothing” to look for the 18-year-old.

Katherine Hadsell said she wishes the police would “give us more insight into what they’re actually doing, because to us it seems like they’re doing nothing.”
