Virginia Tech student missing from cruise ship

WASHINGTON — The search for a Virginia Tech student who went overboard during a cruise to the Caribbean has been called off by the Coast Guard.

The 21-year-old man went overboard about 5 miles off the coast of the Bahamas Sunday morning, reports WDBJ 7 in Roanoke, Virginia. The student has not been identified.

The Carnival Glory was on the first leg of a seven-day trip that left Miami Saturday.

The Coast Guard called off the search Tuesday after two aircraft and a ship searched 4,600 square nautical miles. The man was not found.
