WASHINGTON — The ghosts of Hillary Clinton’s past showed up on Saturday Night Live this week, with a couple of the most popular comediennes of SNL’s past — Amy Poehler and Tina Fey — giving the skit their signature irony and punch.
Reprising their roles as Hillary and Sarah Palin of 2008 respectively, Poehler and Fey served as the midnight visitors to present-day Hillary, played by SNL’s Kate McKinnon.
Hillary of 2015 is confident that she will finally be president come next year’s election. But her younger self warns of some detours along the way from 2008.
“On Christmas Eve 2007 I was cocky too and then someone named Barack Obama stumbled out of a soup kitchen with a basketball and a cigarette and stole my life,” she laments.
2015 Clinton tells her former self not to worry — this time she’s running against Bernie Sanders, “a human Birkenstock.”
Upon telling 2008 Hillary that she may be running against Republican Donald Trump in the general election, the two exclaim, “Oh my God. We’re going to be president!”
Then a puff of smoke, and Palin, who ran unsuccessfully as the GOP vice presidential candidate in 2008, arrives with her own homespun advice. See more:
