WASHINGTON – Several D.C. streets will be closed for part of Monday, Jan. 19 for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace Walk and Parade.
Peace Walk participants will gather at 2498 Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave., SE and proceed to 620 Milwaukee Pl., SE. There will be rolling street closures along the Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue corridor starting at 11 a.m., according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The parade will form on the St. Elizabeth grounds, located at 620 Milwaukee Pl., SE and then head southwest on Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue. The parade is set to end at the 4200 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue will be closed between the 2700 block and the 4200 block from noon to 3 p.m. Streets leading to the road will also be closed during the three-hour period.
Street closures and times could change depending on conditions.
Drivers may want to look for alternate routes during the events Monday.
