A truck driver who blamed his wife’s slaying on a case of charity gone wrong is being flown back to Baltimore, Maryland, along with his daughter to face murder charges.
Keith Smith and his 28-year-old daughter, Valeria Smith, were arraigned in Texas Monday and agreed to be extradited to Maryland. Smith’s wife was stabbed to death after she was approached by a panhandler in Baltimore.
Jacquelyn Smith was stabbed to death late last year in Baltimore. Her husband said she rolled down the window to give money to a panhandler and was stabbed when the panhandler tried to rob her.
Baltimore Police say Jacquelyn Smith, 52, of Harford County gave money out of her car window to what looked like a needy young mother was then stabbed to death by a man who tried to steal her wallet.
