WASHINGTON — Drivers in Stafford County who travel on Telegraph Road may encounter delays starting Monday.
The Virginia Department of Transportation will start a drainage improvement project that will close the road for approximately 45 days.
During construction, residents in the area will experience one-way traffic in the work zone that will be controlled by a temporary traffic signal.
Through traffic on Telegraph Road will be directed approximately six miles to take U.S. Route 1 to Russell Road. Detour signs will be posted.
Crews will work Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. But the hours could be extended to 7 p.m. some times.
The project will install a pipe under the road to improve drainage between Route 1 and Interstate 95.
