Virginia state championship football games postponed due to snow

WASHINGTON — All six classes of Virginia state high school football championship games have been postponed from Saturday to Sunday in anticipation of winter weather hitting the state Friday night and Saturday. With 4-6 inches of snow in the forecast, all games will be played 24 hours later at their originally scheduled locations.

Sunday’s games:

At Salem

Class 1: Riverheads (11-1) vs. Chilhowie (11-3), noon

Class 2: Appomattox (13-1) vs. R.E. Lee-Staunton, 4:30 p.m.

At William & Mary

Class 3: Heritage-Lynchburg (13-1) vs. Hopewell (10-4), noon

Class 4: Louisa (14-0) vs. Salem (12-2), 5:30 p.m.

At Hampton

Class 5: Highland Springs (13-1) vs. Tuscarora (12-2), noon

Class 6: Westfield (14-0) vs. Oscar Smith (12-2), 4:30 p.m.
