WASHINGTON — Ford Motor Company announced Thursday it will recall 433,000 North American vehicles because of an issue with the body control module.
The defect causes the engine to keep running even after the key is removed from the ignition. Ford issued the recall in an attempt to prevent theft and cars from rolling away.
The recall affects certain 2015 Focus, C-MAX and Escape vehicles.
The motor company is not aware of any injuries or accidents caused by the issue, Ford says in a press release.
Customers who are affected by the defect can update their body control module software at dealers — with no cost, CNBC reports.
