Thousands without power in Prince William Co.

WASHINGTON — About 2,000 Dominion Virginia Power customers are without service in Prince William County.

Dominion spokesman Dan Genest said a car accident on Grand Park Road in Dumfries, Virginia caused the outage around 2:30 a.m. Monday.

He said the accident damaged two poles so badly that they will need to be replaced.

Dominion hopes to restore power by Monday afternoon.

The outage is affecting traffic lights.

The outage, at one point, involved 4,000 customers in Fairfax County.
