DC police officer charged with sex offense involving teen girl

WASHINGTON — A D.C. police officer was arrested Monday and charged with engaging in a sexual act with a teenage girl he met on a dating website.

The victim’s mother called Prince George’s County police after she found 25-year-old Nathan Clinkscale in her teenage daughter’s bedroom early Monday morning at their house on Teakwood Drive in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Clinkscale and the teen met on a dating website, but it’s not yet clear which dating website it was, according to Prince George’s County police.

Police are not releasing the victim’s age at this time.

Clinkscale is charged with 3rd degree sex offense, and is in custody of the Department of Corrections.

He is on administrative leave from his job as a D.C. police officer with the department’s fifth district. He has been with the department since 2016, D.C. police said.

“The allegations against him are disgraceful and do no represent the standards of ethics our sworn officers are committed to upholding every day,” D.C. police said in a tweet Monday afternoon.

Prince George’s County police are investigating the case and are asking anyone with information about it to call them at 301-772-4908.
