Police arrest suspect in Prince George’s Co. break in, sexual assault

WASHINGTON — Prince George’s County police have arrested a man they say broke into a woman’s residence and sexually assaulted her last month.

Police arrested 25-year-old Jose Gomez-Portillo earlier this week after police say he broke into a woman’s residence in the 10000 block of Lime Tree Way in Beltsville before 6 a.m. Dec. 23, 2017, sexually assaulted her and then ran away. A warrant for Gomez-Portillo’s arrest was issued on Jan. 14.

Despite the fact that Gomez-Portillo and the victim lived in the same area at the time of the assault, they did not know each other, police said.

Gomez-Portillo is charged with rape, assault and several additional charges. He’s in custody of the Department of Corrections ahead of his preliminary hearing on Feb. 12.

Anyone with information on the case can call police at 301-772-4908.
