Man shot after breaking into Prince George’s home

WASHINGTON — A man is in critical condition after he broke into a Prince George’s County, Maryland, home and was shot by the homeowner, police said.

According to authorities, the man broke into the basement of a house in the 11700 block of Chantilly Lane in Mitchellville and kicked through the door to the first floor.

That’s when the homeowner shot him — twice.

The man ran off, making it about half a block away before someone called 911 to report the incident.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
