WASHINGTON — A man died early Saturday morning after being struck by a Metrobus while trying to cross Interstate 495 in Prince George’s County, Maryland, police said.
James Albert Gibson, 79, of Upper Marlboro, was struck by the bus at around 12:30 a.m. The bus was heading southbound and struck Gibson just north of Md. Route 4.
Gibson, who had been reported missing just before the crash, died at the scene, Maryland State Police said.
There were no passengers aboard the bus and the driver stayed at the scene of the crash, according to police.
Three of the four lanes of I-495 were closed for several hours after the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
