Police arrest Md. dad in connection with 3-week-old daughter’s death

WASHINGTON — A Prince George’s County man is charged in connection of the death of his 3-week-old daughter over the weekend.

Prince George’s County police arrested 27-year-old Nestor Hernandez after the April 9 death of his 3-week-old daughter, Kendra Hernandez.

On April 8, Prince George’s County Fire/EMS responded to the 6800 block of Patterson Street in Riverdale for a report of an unresponsive baby. They transported Kendra to an area hospital where she died the next day.

An autopsy determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma and that her death was a homicide. Police have not released any additional details about the nature of the infant’s death.

Hernandez, who had sole custody of the infant at the time, was charged with child abuse resulting in death and related offenses.

Police are asking anyone with information about the case to contact them at 301-772-4925.
