WASHINGTON — The Metro Transit Police Department is asking the public to help identify a person of interest in connection with Monday night’s shooting involving a Metrobus in District Heights, Maryland.
A man had exited a D14 bus around 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of Regency Lane and Regency Parkway, police said, before shots were fired at the rear of the vehicle. The bus was hit nine times.
None of the bullets penetrated the passenger compartment, and neither the 10 passengers nor the driver were injured, authorities said.
Upon hearing the shots, the operator drove the bus to the Suitland Metro station, where police responded. The suspect fled the scene.
Police have yet to determine a motive for the shooting.
