CLINTON, Md. — A 23-year-old man was shot through the window of his basement bedroom and killed Thursday night.
Prince George’s County detectives said that Kevin Washington Jr.’s death was not a random killing, and that someone had it out for him.
But Friday as a group of friends mourned outside the home he lived in on Alan Drive in Clinton, not everyone could understand why.
“He was a good person,” said a friend named William. “He never caused problems, nothing. You could talk to him — you could talk to him about anything.”
He and Washington had been out together earlier this week.
“I was going to come over after the game,” he said. “And then this happened.”
Washington lived in a house owned by his aunt, on a street where some residents have lived for several decades. A middle school sits behind the home.
Washington’s father was at the scene early Friday morning and made a plea to his son’s killer through NBC Washington.
“Just turn yourself in,” said Kevin Washington Sr. “That’s all I want him to do. Because I’m losing my son. My only son.”
Police have not publicly identified a motive or a suspect in the case.
