WASHINGTON — Prince George’s County police and Crime Solvers are doubling the reward money available for successful tips.
It’s the first time the reward has changed in 35 years.
Now members of the public who provide a tip can get up to $2,500, which is up from a maximum of $1,000 offered before.
The reward is not only being offered for information on violent crime, said Lt. Kirk McLean with Prince George’s County police.
“It could be for anything where someone would call and report information that led to an arrest or indictment,” McLean said.
Tipsters, who can remain anonymous, also have the option to text or email their tip into investigators.
The reward for a successful tip on a homicide, rape and specific violence crime cases remains at a maximum of $25,000.
The department made the announcement as part of its first Wanted Wednesday of 2016.
