Police believe racing cars to blame for Saturday hit and run in Md.

WASHINGTON — Police believe that racing cars may have led to a fatal hit and run late Friday in Capitol Heights.

Prince George’s County Police say it happened just before 11 p.m. along Ritchie Road between Central Avenue and Ritchie Marlboro Road.  Police think a black Dodge Charger and another black sports car were racing before crashing into and killing a cyclist.

Police later said that the victim, an adult female, was pronounced dead at a local hospital. She was identified Saturday morning as Donna Holliday Clark, 56, of Ritchboro Road in Forestville.

A preliminary investigation has indicated that Clark was on her bike heading southbound when a car hit her from behind. The car is described as black or dark-colored, possibly a Dodge Charger. The driver did not stay on the scene and investigators believe the car will now have minor front-end damage.
