WASHINGTON — There’s a lot of buzz around business in Prince George’s County and local leaders say it’s all about the lure.
Prince George’s County is seeing a bump in new business, particularly grocery stores — with a new Whole Foods at Riverdale Park, Harris Teeter in Laurel, and another on the way in Bowie.
“We’re trying to entice them to look at other places in the county to expand their operation,” County Executive Rushern Baker said of Harris Teeter.
Baker was in Las Vegas last week at the International Council of Shopping Centers Convention with the goal of drawing new businesses to develop around underdeveloped Metro stations in the county.
With National Harbor serving as a glowing example of retail success there, Baker says the aim is to land new business around Metro stations such as College Park, Brandywine, and Largo Town Center.
“We looked at University Town Center. We’re very excited about the efforts being made there, and talking to folks at the Mall at Prince George’s and getting them to invest more into that mall,” he says.
There have been a slew of recent business announcements in recent months, including Dave & Busters at Richie Town Center in Capital Heights, and the arrival of Whole Foods in Riverdale.
