WASHINGTON — A driver is recovering after he accidentally drove his car into a house in Lanham, Maryland.

NBC Washington reports that the driver, Melvin Calhoun, was headed to D.C. at about noon when he crashed into a house on the 6900 block of Heidelburg Road. The police say he accidentally hit the gas when he meant to hit the brakes, and he tells NBC Washington, “I just panicked.”

Prince George’s County Fire spokesman Mark Brady says the driver is fine and might not need hospital care.

Nobody was in the house at the time.

Police say a parked car was also hit, but there are no injuries.
