Maame Biney eliminated in 500-meter speedskating quarterfinal

WASHINGTON — Reston native Maame Biney has been eliminated from the 500-meter speedskating competition after finishing fourth in the quarterfinals in the Pyeongchang Olympics.

She got off to an uncharacteristically slow start and didn’t recover. Biney’s quarterfinal included former world champion Fan Kexin of China and Sofia Prosvirnova of the Olympic Athletes from Russia, NBC Washington reports.

Biney still has a chance at the 1,500 meters on Saturday.
