On a per-share basis, the Stamford, Connecticut-based company said it had a loss of 72 cents.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 76 cents per share.
The biopharmaceutical company posted revenue of $49.3 million in the period, which fell short of Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $53.7 million.
