The Lancaster, Pennsylvania-based company said it had net income of $1.75 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $1.81 per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.75 per share.
The ceiling and wall systems manufacturer posted revenue of $386.6 million in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $385.7 million.
Armstrong World Industries expects full-year earnings in the range of $6.15 to $6.25 per share, with revenue in the range of $1.42 billion to $1.44 billion.
Armstrong World Industries shares have climbed 40% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 87% in the last 12 months.
